“Thunderball” at the Trylon
If you can’t wait until Thanksgiving to watch a James Bond movie marathon (what is it about family-centric holidays that inspires networks to resort to reruns?) the Trylon will feature them all month long in its “Best of Bond” series. Tonight the theater spotlights the original Bond with a showing of Sean Connery in Thunderball.
Yes, we’re taking sides—it’s Connery who set the standard for his successors with dry wit and suave confidence, saving the world without breaking a sweat. Thunderball has Connery doing just that with all the Bond trimmings: exotic locales, fast cars, pretty ladies, and a man with an eye patch. Watch Bond hunt down nuclear warheads hidden underwater (scuba fights included) and escape on the best gadget Q ever supplied—a real, working jetpack. It’s the Bond girl that got us in this one though; Domino is the only female we’ve seen harpoon a villain to save the main man. 7p.m. and 9:30 p.m. $8. —EK
