Veg Fest celebrates its sixth year amidst what’s been kind of a banner year for vegan eats. We’ve had local spots like Eureka Compass and Herbivorous Butcher opening or expanding, and can’t help noting the increasing appearance of the Impossible Burger on burger menus (our focus group of 1 vegetarian said it tastes like a regular veggie burger). The festival—which has grown incredibly from 4,000 attendees two years ago to 7,000 last year—is a grazing-friendly event, with food trucks and vendors selling more substantial noshes to augment samples offered some of the 100+ exhibitors in attendance. Amusements include cooking demos and music by mostly vegan artists. Sunday, September 16, 11 AM – 5 PM. Free. —Art Humes
