If you’re looking for a new take on rock classics, you should be at the Cabooze this weekend for the “Big Pink: 8th Annual Tribute to The Last Waltz” event. In case you need to brush up on your band trivia, The Last Waltz was The Band’s swan song. More than a dozen big-name musicians (think Eric Clapton, Neil Diamond, Bob Dylan, Van Morrison, and Joni Mitchell, just to name a few) joined The Band for the final performance held on Thanksgiving day in 1976. Martin Scorsese filmed the concert and made it into The Last Waltz documentary.

Local rockers Lamont Cranston Band pays tribute to The Band with the second night of “Big Pink: 8th Annual Tribute to The Last Waltz.” The Lamont Cranston Band brings the original roots rock sound back to life, featuring guitar, bass, percussion, piano, trumpet, saxophone, and even harmonica. Reserve your tickets and get ready to enjoy new renditions of The Band’s classic rock/blues hits. F-Sa. 9:30 p.m. (doors at 8:30 p.m.) $12. —RO
