We all know the Twin Cities are resplendent with talented musicians and bands. This is a big reason we at Secrets appreciate Icehouse; the venue features bright new acts that make us think, “Where do all of these talented individuals come from?” In the case of Saturday’s headliners Story of the Sea and BNLX, right from our backyard.
Although bandmates and brothers Ian and Adam Prince of Story of the Sea are originally from Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, they moved and adopted the cities as their home. Performing in local bands Manplanet and Houston, the two eventually teamed up for a guitar and drums-centered band, adding John McEwen from Align as the talented bass player. Sharing the stage with Story of the Sea is BNLX, a 100 percent DIY music group comprised of individuals who produce their own audio recordings, video content, and merchandise. The “noise rock” band brings its creative compositions to Icehouse to complete this night of diverse music. 11 p.m. $5. —RO
