The MN Opera’s January production comes to us from no less that the man who provided music for the first two Godfather films, Italian composer Nino Rota! The gambol of a story brings us in 1950s Paris to follow a hapless groom and his hungry hungry pony on a quest that produces baronesses, mistaken identities, and other wonderful opera staples. It promises a springy score, and knowing the knack for whimsy the Opera typically demonstrates, we’re anticipating a set with proper panache to match. (Don’t forget to stroll through the Winter Carnival ice sculptures on the way to and/or from the Ordway.) Saturday, Jan 26 – Feb 3. Times vary. Tickets from $25-228.Isabelle Wattenberg
