Punk Bowling Mondays at Memory Lanes turns into Metal Bowling Monday tonight with sets from Dawn of Valor, Process of Eradication, and the mighty King Goro, the latter whom we really, really loved at Winterfest on Friday. With brutally heavy songs ranging in length from 15 seconds all the way to 1 minute 30 seconds, King Goro’s music is intense and hilariously named—there’s “Slaughtermelon,” “Bellows” (a song with no lyrics just bellowing), “Shart Attack” (about the one that got away), and because it’s named after a Mortal Kombat character, “Fatality.” “We have about four more for you,” said King Goro in-between songs, “So it should go pretty fast.” Quality, not quantity, and King Goro’s jokes work because like all comedy, even if the jokes and songs are super short, they’re done with 100% sincerity. Local power metalers Dawn of Valor and black death worshippers Process of Eradication round out the evening of riff, beers, and gutter balls. 10pm. Free.—Taylor Carik
