Listen up you Twin Cities culture-seekers: there’s a new wave of artistic talent and it’s coming from local schools. The MPS Viva City Fine Arts Festival showcases performances from up-and-coming Minneapolis Public Schools students who participate in music and the performing arts. This is the festival’s 19th year, and to celebrate, Viva City presents student achievement in visual and performing arts through various performances. After months of classroom learning centered on the arts, these elementary, middle school, and high school students are ready to unleash their remarkable talents on the art-savvy crowd. The festival begins tonight at the Cedar Cultural Center and goes through the month of March, featuring vocal, instrumental, theater, and dance performances at various venues within Minneapolis. Close the textbooks and stop by this creative exhibition of student talent. 7 p.m. (doors at 6:30 p.m.) Free (donations requested.) —RO
