Nordeast’s daring indie publisher, Coffee House Press, is adept at plucking from the slush pile what become globally lauded books, including the Pulitzer-nominated In the Distance by Hernan Diaz and Eimear McBride’s A Girl is a Half-Formed Thing. They also excel at using books to bring people together, from commissioning local dramatists to give live readings to hosting bookish happy hours. Their second annual fundraiser Housequake was planned in the same vein: it’s a takeover of the Fulton Tap Room, where your $25 ticket gets you a beer, keepsake pint glass (is the pint glass the new tote bag of the nonprofit world?), as-you-wish, on-site printing from Fontlove Studio and the satisfaction of helping CHP bring often-silenced voices into our world. Monday, 5:39-8 p.m. $25-100.Isabelle Wattenberg
