The recovery effort to help North Minneapolis bounce back after a devastating tornado hit earlier this summer is still underway, and tonight the North Minneapolis Post Tornado Watch brings an incredible line-up of MCs to First Avenue to benefit our north side neighbors. One of the all-time hip-hop greats, KRS-ONE, will headline the show, and Detroit’s Slum Village and local hip-hop impresarios Toki Wright and Truth Maze, will also perform during the fundraiser. To make the show even more exciting, Illa J, the younger brother of the late mega-producer J Dilla will be breaking out some never released Dilla tracks. DJ Peter Parker from 96.3 Now/Shadyville and Dj Xpect from New York City host the evening. Tickets are $40 at the door; show is 18+ and First Ave. opens at 8 p.m. More info on the relief effort at Facebook and iRelief’s website.
