You may have heard her on the Bob and Tom Show, seen her compete on Comedy Central, or let’s be honest, Minnesota’s Polka Spotlight. Mary Mack opens her yearly week of shows at Acme tonight, bringing her nationally acclaimed Midwest humor (and strangely child-like voice) back to Minnesota.

The small-statured, big-hearted, occasionally passive-aggressive comedian takes over the microphone with stories that sounds straight out of your own childhood, with a downright Fargoan accent to match. Stories of hunting, hot dish, and our region’s classic muted family aggression are her bread and butter, though lately she’s been covering Ricky Rubio. Peppered through her performances are funny melodies and ditties sung to the to the mandolin. She’s a little odd, like no comic you’ve heard before—but she’s Minnesota, through and through. Minnesota Original will film the show tonight, as Mack is the latest subject in their mini-documentary series. 8 p.m. $15. –EK
