This Saturday The Loring Theater and Gallery13 team-up for for a very special installment of the variety show, Loring Theater Live: Animate. Ron Campbell, the animation artist behind the look and feel of The Beatles’ Yellow Submarine will discuss his artwork and his time as an animator on The Jetsons, Smurfs, and Scooby Doo with the Loring’s artistic director Steve Barberio. Following in the animation theme, some locally produced animated shorts will be shown: The Bike Race by Tom Shroeder, Insectula by Michael Peterson, and Philip the Safety Egg by the creative group Puny Entertainment. And don’t forget the variety! During the program, FOUR HUMORS will be delivering sketches full of physical comedy, the Ariel Collective will be doing an aerialist performance, and new vocal/electronic supergroup A. Wolf & Her Claws will add the soundtrack from the stage. Once the show is finished, the Flared Bass Collective hosts the after party. Loring Theater Live: Animate begins at 7pm and is $10 advance, $12 at door, and $5 for the after-party only.
