Little and women, yes, but little women, definitely not. Is/Is, the rockingest group in town, is just one Sarah short of an all-Sarah trio. A little bit Mazzy Star on vocals, a little bit buzzy Pink Mink, the group manages the perfect balance between a dazed, inviting delivery and a heavy dose of punk. Debuting its first full-length album, Ill, Is/Is plays tonight at the Turf Club. Even with the band’s game of musical chairs that saw three different people on drums on a single album, critics are already saying they’ve managed to produce something coherent, creative, and beautiful. Tonight kicks off the band’s three-week tour taking them to Austin, New Orleans, Brooklyn, and beyond. Even more rad in person, Is/Is delivers a powerfully awesome performance that you won’t want to miss.
Zoo Animal and Fire in the Northern Firs play as well. Meaning even more slightly dark, super creative music. Aren’t you lucky? 9 p.m. $7. —LB
