We often say that the best way to approach the MPLS + STPL art scene is to get to know the work of a few of your favorite artists, and we definitely recommend making Liz Miller one of those few. Her work combines different materials like large swaths of felt or thin, flexible sheets of plastic with vibrant pops of color and abstract shapes to create a new form of sculpture. The pieces are both innovative and visually engaging—and not only that, but Miller’s pieces at Public Functionary will serve as the set for the upcoming collaboration between musicians Brute Heart, performance artists Supergroup, experimental playwright Rachel Jendrzejewski, and Miller entitled In Which _____ and Others Discover the End. Get an early look at Miller’s designs and pieces this Saturday before the full show debuts later in the month. Saturday, 7 PM. Free. —Letron Davies
