Burnet Gallery art director and curator Jennifer Phelps believes there is a unique sense of intimacy to art on paper; a concept she hopes to communicate through the “Works on Paper” exhibit. Opening tonight, the exhibit features prints, drawings and collages by seven Minnesota artists: John Fleischer, Karen Gustafson, Jessica Henderson, Caroline Kent, Elizabeth Simonson, Justin Quinn, and Nate Young. Seasoned and novice artists present different ends of the art spectrum, with both vivid and subdued pieces as well as ornate and minimalist pieces. The artists’ backgrounds range as much as their artwork; many are recipients of prestigious art awards and have had their work showcased in local galleries and museums such as the Walker Art Center, the Katherine Nash Gallery, and The Soap Factory. Visit the gallery for the opening reception and the inspiring result of putting pen/pencil/paint to paper. 6 p.m. Free. —RO
