Friday: Blowout at Light Grey Art Lab
If you’re thinking about getting inked or if you already have some body art, mark your calendar for Blowout, Light Grey Art Lab’s upcoming show. The exhibit is curated by Uptown Tattoo and features the creative and provocative work of 40 tattoo artists from around the world. As if the international factor didn’t make the event cool enough, the money raised from art sales will help defray surgery costs for fellow tattoo artist Tom Strom who was in a serious biking accident.
If you love tattoo art but aren’t into its permanence, swing by the Beautiful Forever secondary show. Contrary to its title, this exhibit includes a large assortment of functional temporary tattoos designed by different illustrators, designers and artists. Stop by the opening night reception and bond with other tattoo lovers surrounded by the tattoo artists’ work. We bet there will be plenty of interesting tattoo stories to share. 7 p.m. Free. —RO
