If you are like us, you’ve been hearting Kate Casanova since her mushroom chairs, and now her love of nature, color, and the unexpected has led her art down a biologically haunting path to her Posthuman phase. What could be more timely, too! At the always-excellent Public Functionary, Casanova expands on her un/usual sculpture and installation mediums to include video, exploring human and non-human corporeality (you’ve got to see it to get the full implications). Plus, Kate will be leaving us for Denver in the fall so this might be your last chance to see the local art hero at the beats-filled opening reception. Friday, August 10th, 7 PM. Free. —Erin Huntington-Cates
