Here’s both an arts pick and a foodie pick: The final installment of Juxtaposition’s art and dinner series Tending the Soil: Black August—a “month-long meditation on the past, present, and future of Black revolutionary struggles”—features the Arts Apprentices from JXTA’s Contemporary Art Lab showcasing and discussing the powerful work they made through the exhibition. Plus there’s the food—attendees will hear more about the overall project’s roots of unification against prisons and mass incarceration while connecting around the excellent food of Soul Bowl. Friday, August 17th, 5:30 PM. Free. —Tracy Oxford
