Every year that First Avenue does their Best New Bands showcase the lineup is, of course, pretty good—we’ve got a strong scene, how can it not be? But this year. Wow. Maybe the best new crop of new bands we’ve seen in a very long time, the program includes Secrets favs like the grungy rockers in Scrunchies and Gully Boys, the throwback garage sounds of The Carnegies, powerhouse vocalist Annie Mack, singer-songwriter Faith Boblett, sexy funksters Static Panic, and radio-friendly polished pop band YAM HAUS. It’s really an early look at the bands you’ll be seeing all summer for the busy block party schedule and it sounding like a fun summer. Local radio personalities host the evening and keep the action moving. Friday, January 4th, 7 PM. $10 advance, $12 door.Paul Cajun
