Ed Kowalczyk: Throwing Copper Unplugged—20th Anniversary Celebration

Live

We heard a story one time that a guy was a total bro bar in LA (or Seattle or somewhere) and out of nowhere a karaoke host comes in and sets up karaoke. All the bros are singing terrible songs and then this guy hears the first chords to Live’s big hit “Lightning Crashes” from Throwing Copper and the he looks up to see what bro would sing that at karaoke and it was, in fact, Live frontman Ed Kowalczyk. We don’t know if it’s a true story, but we’d like to think that it is, because that would be amazing. Throwing Copper, which likely the majority of you still have on a physical CD somewhere, turns 20 years old this year, and Kowalczyk makes a stop tonight at the Cedar Cultural Center to perform the album and party. And if that story is true, we are very excited to see how much fun this show it. $35 advance, $40 door. —Mike Scharditino
