Last year the Cedar Cultural Center renamed its flagship program for supporting new forward-looking music from 416 Commissions to simply The Cedar Commissions, but the excitement level—and artists selections—were as high as ever, thanks to their artist selections. Once again we have that same giddy anticipation thanks to their two-day showcase that includes Julia Hobart re-imagining tradition murder ballads, Shawn Mouacheupa fusing Hmong culture with his American indie-pop, singer and composer Ashantiva creating a coming-of-age story with experimental electronic soundscapes, and more. Any fans of new and creative music will want to get tickets to both nights before they sell out. Friday-Saturday, 7:30 PM. $10 advance, $15 both shows.Margeaux Devereaux
