Lizzo’s latest emergence as queen of the Minneapolis hip-hop scene is really just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to local talent. Botzy continues his solo career trajectory tonight with an EP release just three months after his debut album Buck Fotzy. Since Culture Cry Wolf went on indefinite hiatus earlier this year, he’s been singularly focused on his own loosely strung vibes, which explains his prodigious output. The new EP, “Past Tense,” promises more of Botzy’s trademark flow, a steady beat and classic R&B samples reminiscent of his original Atmosphere inspirations, but the artist has more confidence than ever. In true Minneapolis style, all his friends are coming out to support the new release: joining him on stage this weekend are electro-funky Tickle Torture, fast talking Allan Kingdom, tough spitting Ackronem, and Prof buddy DJ Fundo. Ah, and one more supporting act: those hard-to-find, get ’em before they’re gone, made with love Dirty Donuts. 10 p.m. $5. —EK
