We’re not sure when the conversation about Minnesota food really took hold—was it the Grape Salad debacle? Sean Sherman’s campaign to introduce more people to indigenous dishes and ingredients? The gradual buildup of local star power ranging from Gavin Kaysen to Andrew Zimmern? Whatever the case, our food scene is increasingly under a national lens and the latest conversation is a panel exploring the concept of “Northern Food”, led by author Steven Hoffman who recently penned an article on the topic. The massively talented panel includes Ann Kim, Lynne Rossetto Kasper, and Yia Vang, and topics range from the native and immigrant influences that have elevated Minnesota’s cuisine beyond the casserole to how food tangles up identity of place and self. The very reasonable ticket fee gets you access to cheffy bites and a seat for the panel. Monday, June 25th, 5-9 PM. $9.Isabelle Wattenberg
