Inspiration often comes to artists in ways that audiences can often only speculate about or infer—who are the dogs in Who Let the Dogs Out, was there anyone specific, history may never know. But tonight at McNally Smith, homegrown paintings, sculptures, photography, and architecture (like the Guthrie Theater) directly serve as inspiration for McNally musicians to create nine new pieces, and both the auditory art works and visual inspiration will all be on display together tonight in the college’s gallery, creating an interesting and interconnected feel greater than the sum of its parts. 7:30 PM. Free. —Deray Cunningham
