Spend your the early part of the week at The Cedar Cultural Center hearing—and seeing—new music at the 416 Commissions. The wonderful flagship series gives a few of our brightest emerging artists the opportunity to develop new and forward-thinking musical pieces, sometimes with accompanying visual art, as is the case with tonight’s performances. First, Fletcher Barnhill created a series of collaborations with members of Skoal Kodiak, Dark Dark Dark, RONiiA, and others, to create a slow-moving score that’s inspired by a four-year tour cycle between MPLS and California. The piece will be set to visuals produced by Fletcher and Issac Gale. Then comes 3P3, a collaboration between composer Zach Zubow and painter Emily Lynch Victory, which combines a new three-movement work for piano and paintings that follow a specific mathematical base system(!). Fantastic stuff, and the coolness continues through Tuesday and Wednesday. 7:30 PM. $5. —Aiden Marchwood
