Few people can actually pull off a really solid air guitar solo, but at the Air Guitar Championships at the Cabooze, spectators can witness masters of the craft melt face with their air antics. Shredders who take the stage as a part of the competition not only dress the part — the costumes range from cheesy to down right impressive — but contestants also act the rock god part with wagging tongues, high kicks, and contorted faces. If you think you’ve got the stuff yourself, your “air playing” will be judged based on technical merit, stage presence, and “airness” (your own unique style of strumming, which you might want to practice in the mirror before hand). Entrants will compete for the regional title and a ticket to the national competition in Chicago. Competition begins at the Cabooze at 8:30 p.m. Tickets $16 ($14 at the door). More information is available at the the Cabooze’s website.
