Meet the Maestro
Secrets of the City and the Minnesota Opera host a fun, free, social event for all Opera supporters – or wannabe supporters! Acquaint yourself with the Opera if you haven't already, and get the insider's "score" on their upcoming production of "Casanova’s Homecoming," all while sipping cocktails and noshing on Italian apps courtesy of Buca di Beppo! The free event will feature a discussion with the young, Italian conductor, Leonardo Vordoni (did we say tall, dark, and handsome?), who will be directing the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra for "Casanova's Homecoming." In our conversation with Maestro Vordoni, we plan to cover the ins and outs of the life of a conductor, if you will; his approach to comedy vs. tragedy, classic operas vs. contemporary works, and balancing the psyche and sounds between orchestra and actors. Be prepared for a jovial occasion in the pseudo Italian environs of Buca di Beppo, with complimentary appetizers (primi!), a cash bar with a featured Casanova cocktail, prize drawings for a $50 Buca certificate, plus other surprise drawings and gifts. The event runs from 7pm-9pm and is free. For more info visit www.mnopera.org/events BONUS: Specially priced $25 tickets to "Casanova's Homecoming" at the Ordway will be made available exclusively to guests at this event!
