Sustainable Brewery to Open in St. Paul

If you need another reason to get into our local beer scene, here’s one you can feel good about: a sustainable brewhouse is coming to St. Paul. Sandy and Jay Boss Febbo have created Bang Brewing Company: an eco-friendly brewery slated to open this February in the St. Anthony Park neighborhood.

The 1,300-square-foot building is made of mostly recycled materials that the couple has found and repurposed. As Twin Cities Daily Planet reports, the wood for the driveway was taken from the parkway near the Mill City ruins in Minneapolis, and oak planks used for the interior once belonged to the West River Parkway before it was paved with concrete.

In addition to its’ sustainable construction, Bang Brewing Co. will also use only certified organic ingredients and wind-powered energy. The notably small size of the building is also a way the couple hopes to minimize their carbon footprint. While both Sandy and Jay maintain full-time jobs—Jay is a software engineer and Sandy an executive art director—their passion project may just create a big bang in the Minnesota brewing scene.
