On the Radar: For Thursday
Out of all the correspondence we get, people asking for more lead time on cool events is one of the biggest requests we get. (To stop using the word Twincy and to list events that you don’t want to go to are the others.) So with that in mind, this Thursday is bonkers with stuff, so here’s a quick look at our radar.
Support the Boys & Girls Club of MPLS by hearing the high octane blues rock of 4ontheFloor at Rip Sip & Rock at the Muse Event Center. There’s a fantastic Meals on Heels fundraiser for Meals on Wheels that has a ton of great food and beer and music from Ashley Gold for only $30 at Harriet Island. A massive Creative City Market opens up the MPLS Convention Center that features a bunch of cool stuff, including a temporary tattoo poem, the mini_polis installation, MN-made short movies and more. It’s another Pop Remix at the Walker Art Center, this time with an Emma Berg and Christian Joy fashion show and music from Wolf Lords. MNKINO Film Score Fest at the Landmark Center brings filmmakers, composers, and musicians together to create new short films with original scores that are performed live at the screening. There are somehow still tickets left to Sound Unseen‘s screening of The First Waltz, a documentary on a contemporary Americana supergroup, at the Trylon. Erin Pike‘s That’swhatshesaid and Billy Mullaney‘s Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood open at the Open Eye Theater. Monica LaPlante kick off their tour at the 331 with Murder Shoes and Surgery at the Hands of Machines. Film 4M shows the cult classic Monkees movie HEAD at Das Black Forest Inn.
